All Montana Division of Wildlife Rules must be followed,per the 2008 Montana State
Fishing Guide (Western Region Rules).
- ALL TROUT MUST BE 16 INCHES OR LONGER IN LENGTH TO BE ENTERED IN DERBY.
- Derby Categories are:
- Heaviest Single Weighing Trout. (80% of Entry Fees)
First Place 35%, Second Place 25%, Third Place 20%, Fourth Place 10%, Fifth
Place 6% and Sixth Place 4%.

Heaviest Combined Weight of Salmon for two days. (20% of Entry Fees)
First Place 50%, Second Place 30% and Third Place 20%.
THIS IS A ONE-TIME WEIGH IN FROM 12 p.m. TILL 2 p.m. SUNDAY ONLY.
Any person over 3 years of age aboard tournament-entered boats
must be registered and have paid a $20 entry fee. Children under 3 years of age are allowed on the boats, but aren't not allowed
to be in any part of this contest unless entery fee has been paid (including awards and door prizes). All
applications and entry fees must be received at Koocanusa Resort and Marina no
later than FRIDAY MAY 16,2008 to be entered in this derby. (No Saturday entries will
be accepted.)

Check-in must be done in person all day on Friday May 16, 2008 or Saturday morning
May 17th, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. NO LATER...You must check in at Koocanusa Resort and
Marina. Each contestant MUST CHECK-IN, NO ACCEPTIONS. This is so we know everyone
understands all the times and derby rules.
Boating over to check-in is not allowed due to the fact that you cannot be fishing for the
derby till you have checked in at Koocanusa Resort and Marina. There is a reason for this being
in the rules. We want to be fair to everyone...

Weigh-in and Tagging:
All Trout will be weighed and tagged each day.
SATURDAY WEIGHT-IN DEAD LINE IS 9 P.M.
SALMON ARE ONLy WEIGHED ON SUNDAY FROM 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
(20 OR LESS TOTAL SALMON FOR WEIGH-IN)
SUNDAY LAST WEIGH-IN IS AT 2 p.m.
THIS IS FOR ALL TROUT AND SALMON.
Fish will be weighed and tagged with numbers to matching entry application.
ALL FISH ARE SUBJECT TO BEING CLEANED TO VERIFY THEIR WEIGHT.

Launching is allowed at any lunch ramp that has access to Lake Koocanusa.

ALL weigh-ins must have been caught on Lake Koocanusa during the tournament hours,
breaking this rule is grounds for disqualification.

Under Montana DWF Law - MONTANA RESIDENTS from age of 1-11 do not need a fishing
license or a conservation tag; they fish for free. Ages of 12-14 you must have a conservation tag
to fish and 15 and up you must have a conservation tag and license to fish.

Under Montana DWF Law NON-RESIDENTS kids up to the age of 14 must count their
catch with a licensed adult (unless they purchase a license for themselves, then they have
the same rules and catch limit as a licensed adult), 15 and over must have their own license.
EVERYONE ON THE BOAT MUST BE ENTERED IN THE DERBY AND MUST PAY THE ENTRY FEE OF $20.00.

THERE ARE NO BULL TROUT ALLOWED FOR THIS DERBY.
BULL TROUT SEASON IS from June 1 to Febuary 28, 2009 WITH BULL TROUT CATCH CARD. CONTACT DWF OF MONTANA IN KALISPELL FOR CATCH CARD.

YOU ARE ALLOWED ONLY 1 TROUT THAT IS OVER 22 INCHES IN
POSSESSION AT ANY TIME.

We will offer an area to wash your boats down before they are launched and after the derby.
We are asking that everyone help us to prevent any weed or water transfer from infecting
our lake. Thank you for helping keep this lake as clean as possible.
